Classification Title: Supplemental Coach

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and skilled Supplemental Athletic Coach to assist in the development and coaching of student-athletes in various sports programs. This position will focus on enhancing individual and team performance, supporting the head coach, and promoting a positive and inclusive athletic environment. The Supplemental Athletic Coach will work closely with athletes, coaches, and staff to help guide students toward their full potential, both in sport and personal development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

         Assist the head coach with planning and implementing daily practice sessions, drills, and team strategies.

 

         Provide individualized coaching and support to athletes to help improve their technical skills, athletic performance, and teamwork.

 

         Foster a positive and motivating atmosphere that encourages the growth and development of all student-athletes.

 

         Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to improve skills, strength, and conditioning.

 

         Support the organization and management of game-day operations, including warm-ups, player preparation, and team logistics.

 

         Collaborate with coaching staff to set team goals and help track progress toward those goals.

 

         Assist in the monitoring of athlete eligibility, attendance, and participation requirements.

 

         Ensure that all practices and events comply with relevant regulations, rules, and school policies.

 

         Help maintain and organize athletic equipment and ensure the safety of all participants during training and events.

 

         Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and respect for others.

 

         Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding athlete progress and team matters.

 

         Contribute to the recruitment of new athletes and support the retention of current team members.

 

Qualifications:

 

         Previous coaching experience in the relevant sport (1-3 years preferred).

 

         Knowledge of sport-specific techniques, rules, and strategies.

 

         Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administration.

 

         Strong organizational and time-management skills.

 

         A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.

 

         CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

 

         High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is a plus).

 

         Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

 

Desired Skills & Abilities:

 

         Strong interpersonal and motivational skills to connect with athletes.

 

         Ability to adapt coaching techniques to the needs and skill levels of individual athletes.

 

         Experience with strength and conditioning, as well as injury prevention and rehabilitation.

 

         Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring young athletes.

 

         Knowledge of current trends in sports coaching and athlete development.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

         Ability to participate in physical activities such as drills, conditioning, and demonstrations.

 

         Ability to lift and carry athletic equipment and materials.

 

         Ability to stand, walk, and move around frequently during practices and games.

 

Working Conditions:

 

         The position may require working outside in various weather conditions.

 

         Some travel may be required for away games and tournaments.
