As a member of the Performance, Health and Wellness team, this position leads the day-to-day athletic performance program and works closely with the Head Athletic Trainer, medical staff, coaching staff, and Basketball Operations.
This role is responsible for designing and implementing individualized and team-based performance strategies that prepare players for the physical demands of professional basketball. Areas of focus include strength and conditioning, movement preparation, performance testing, athlete monitoring, workload management, recovery, and collaboration on rehabilitation and return-to-play.

This position will help advance an integrated performance model that supports player readiness, long-term development, and overall team success.
This is a full-time, year round role with responsibilities in Oceanside, CA during the G League season and support of the LA Clippers during the offseason.
Due to the nature of professional basketball, this position requires a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours needed to support practices, games, player development, and team operations. Frequent travel to away games is required.
What You Will Do
  • Lead the San Diego Clippers' daily athletic performance program, establishing standards for player preparation, physical development, strength and conditioning, movement preparation, activation, lifting, conditioning, recovery, and post-practice/game performance readiness.
  • Design, implement, and adjust individualized and team-based performance programs based on each player's physical profile, developmental goals, workload, position, injury history, and the demands of professional basketball.
  • Collaborate with Head Athletic Trainer, Performance, Health and Wellness, coaching staff, and Basketball Operations to align player training, workload, recovery, and return-to-play with team priorities, practice plans, and game schedules.
  • Lead athlete monitoring and performance testing processes, using appropriate technologies and methods to evaluate readiness, workload, and overall development.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate performance data, translating insights into actionable recommendations for players, coaches, medical staff, and Basketball Operations.
  • Collaborate with nutrition and culinary staff to support player fueling, hydration, supplementation, and recovery strategies.
  • Support player onboarding and development through assessments, performance profiles, individualized plans, and clear performance expectations.
  • Support LAC Performance, Health & Wellness team throughout the year, including training camp, pre-draft workouts, NBA Combine, Summer League, and other related initiatives as assigned.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development, innovation, evidence-based practice, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the San Diego Clippers and the broader Performance, Health and Wellness department.

Background, Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Sports Science, or a related field required; master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in professional, collegiate, G League, or comparable high-performance environments; basketball experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing individualized and team-based strength and conditioning programs, with a strong understanding of the physical demands of basketball.
  • Experience using athlete monitoring and sports science technologies, including GPS, force plates, and VALD systems preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong interdisciplinary collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, and handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing schedules and player needs, and maintain a high standard of detail and execution in a fast-paced environment.

Special Requirements of the Job
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on the team schedule.
  • Frequent travel to away games and team activities.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, move, lift, and carry equipment.
  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment and other objects weighing up to and over 50 pounds.
