Job description

Digital Content Editor

KOAT, the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico is looking for a well-rounded Digital Content Editor who will create content for our station's website, mobile products and social media platforms. You will be an excellent storyteller and can edit and create content facing intense competition under constant deadline pressure. You will report to Digital Content Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Write/edit and publish breaking news, daily news, sports, weather, and feature stories for the station's website, mobile and social media pages
  • Meet daily posting minimums for website, social videos, push alerts, and graphics
  • Write compelling headlines and push alerts  
  • Work with Reporters and Assignment Editors to ensure content is posted quickly
  • Work with Producers, Assignment Editors and Managers to ensure cross promotion of content across all platforms
  • Manage LIVE streams of newscasts and breaking news
  • Contribute ideas to help grow the station's digital platforms

Requirements

  • Previous digital editing experience
  • Professional experience with non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere or equivalent)
  • News and editorial judgment
  • Excellent AP writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and video editing
  • Experience with social media best practices
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, holidays on short notice to cover a 24-hour news cycle
  • Work well in an environment with frequent interruptions
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other programming languages
  • Related military experience will be considered
