Job Details

  • Job Title: DevOps Engineer

  • Client Industry: Government / Public Sector

  • Location: Raleigh, NC

  • Duration: 6 Months - High potential for extension

  • Employment Type: Contract

  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid

    • Condition: The candidate will be expected to be onsite two days per week initially, and will eventually be required to be onsite three days a week.

  • Interview Format: In Person

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate application development, SQL Server database administration, server and platform operations, Azure cloud services, and system maintenance into a unified role.

  • Administer a portfolio of approximately 15 enterprise servers across application, database, web, and file/print functions.

  • Manage Azure-hosted Development/QA environments and internally hosted Production, Test, and Training environments.

  • Oversee certificate management, service accounts, and security configurations for all supported servers.

  • Support ongoing Windows server refresh projects and externally hosted application servers.

  • Administer multiple SQL Server databases across Azure and on-premise hosting environments, ensuring database integrity, performance, and security.

  • Participate in platform migrations, including upgrading from Windows Server 2016 to 2019.

  • Serve as an Azure DevOps administrator by managing iterations, sprints, pipelines, and work items.

  • Design, develop, and maintain ASP.NET web applications and standalone utilities utilized across multiple internal divisions.

  • Support secure coding practices, deployment processes, and overall application reliability across both cloud and on-premise environments.

Required Skills
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with Windows server administration.

  • 3 to 5 years of SQL server database administration experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, migrations, certificates, service accounts, and multi-tier architectures.

  • Proven ability to manage complex environments across Development, QA, Test, Train, and Production.

  • Willingness and ability to work directly with non-IT agency staff members.

Preferred Skills
  • 3 years of proficiency with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, iterations, boards, and work items.
