Job Summary
The Web Specialist position is responsible for developing and managing the overall web content strategy for the university website in support of university operations. The Web Specialist will write content and be responsible for planning, developing, measuring, and improving the effectiveness of the university website with the overall goal of driving and increasing traffic. This position also oversees the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the university's digital forms, ensuring functionality, accessibility, data integrity, and alignment with institutional processes.
This position is a 100% full-time on-campus position based in Americus, Georgia
Responsibilities
  • Maintains and updates the university website. (65%)
    • Develop and oversee the overall content strategy.
    • Assess and improve current web content, including search engine optimization.
    • Monitor and update web content on a regular basis with fresh text, imagery, and video.
    • Generate new and interactive content for programs, departments, and divisions.
    • Develop new styles and modules for accessibility.
    • Problem solve web-related issues.
  • Build and manage web forms for departments across campus. (25%)
    • Collaborate with campus partners to gather requirements, streamline workflows, recommend solutions
    • Ensure accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and ADA compliance across all forms
    • Integrate forms with appropriate systems to support data collection and reporting
    • Maintain and update existing forms for accuracy, functionality, and improved user experience
    • Monitor form performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and data integrity
    • Provide training to departments on best practices for form usage and submission processes
  • Performs a variety of related duties. (10%)
    • Completes special projects as assigned.
    • Serve on website-related committees.
    • Train student web developer intern (when applicable).

Required Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the field required (Communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, digital media, information technology, English, etc.).
  • More than three years of related experience required in web content strategy or creating/writing content for digital media.
  • Experience with content management systems, search engine optimization best practices, and analytics.
