Beallwood Baptist Church

Position Title: Church Administrative Assistant

Location: Beallwood Baptist Church Columbus, GA

Employment Type: Part Time (9:00–1:00 Monday thru Friday).

Reports To: Pastor

Who We Are

At Beallwood is a Christian church that has served the Chattahoochee Valley for more than a century. We root ourselves in Christ and His word, the Bible. We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Administrative Assistant to be the backbone of our church office, supporting our mission to connect, inspire, and grow together. Applicants should read the Baptist Faith and Message and be able to endorse it without mental or emotional reservations (see sbc.net/bfm2000).

What You’ll Do

You’ll bring order and care to our daily operations, working alongside ministers, staff, and leaders to keep our church thriving.

This position consists of the duties of a receptionist, graphic designer, publisher, record keeper, traditional secretary, web designer, membership manager, and encouraging Christian.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating church calendars—scheduling services, meetings, and events.
  • Create and print documentation of events such as baptisms, baby dedications, church membership, wedding, funerals, etc.
  • Maintain proficiency in the operation of computers, copiers, the folding machine, and other office equipment.
  • Prepare correspondence and publications (letters, reports, minutes, church calendar, promotional materials, weekly bulletin, and weekly newsletter) and any other materials requested by the Pastors and staff.
  • Assist in planning and implementing events.
  • Monitor and empty mailboxes, responding to items received, and distribute as needed.
  • Mail items in bulk as required.
  • Organizing and filing documents, keeping records current and accessible.
  • Crafting publications (using tools like Canva) and managing membership data (via Shelby or similar systems).
  • Creating, proofreading, and polishing reports, presentations, and correspondence for clarity and impact.
  • Serving as the friendly first point of contact—answering calls, emails, and greeting visitors with a gentle, supportive spirit.
  • Managing office supplies, placing orders, and ensuring our space is ready for ministry.
  • Leveraging tech tools (like Google Suite) to boost communication and collaboration.
  • Prioritizing tasks with smart time management to keep everything on track.
  • Update church website or assist with updates as needed.
  • Submit background check requests and maintain Child Sexual Abuse Policy records.

What You Bring

  • A story of turning to Christ and following Him lovingly and consistently in your church.
  • A heart and faith in the Bible as the authority for faith, practice, and all of life.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • The ability to meet deadlines.
  • An ability to endorse The Baptist Faith & Message 2000 without mental or emotional reservation (found at https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000/).
  • A servant spirit, a teachable disposition, and a passion for serving Beallwood.
  • Proficiency with Shelby, Canva, and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive)—or the ability to learn.
  • Stellar organizational skills, with a talent for managing multiple priorities in a bustling environment.
  • Keen proofreading skills to ensure every detail shines.
  • Comfort with office procedures and a knack for streamlining processes.
  • Strong communication and calendar management skills to keep everyone aligned.
  • The ability to work solo or as part of a team, adapting to whatever the day brings.
  • A natural warmth that makes everyone feel welcomed and valued.

Why Join Us?

  • Play a key role in a ministry that changes lives and builds the church.
  • Work in a supportive and Christ-centered environment with a team that values your contributions.
  • Our vision is to magnify Christ by making the Columbus metro region the most prayed for, the most evangelized, and the most Bible-minded in America.
