Responsibilities

Work with executive staff and business users to define project scope and timelines.

Work both independently and as a highly functional part of our core Ruby on Rails development team. Be savvy enough to know when to do which.

Provide coaching and mentoring to members of the software development team.

Work with staff to translate technical requests into formalized product features.

Work with staff to assist with bug identification, reproduction and resolution.

Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the Development Team to both develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Alert colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and the opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities.

Develop innovative, reusable Web-based tools for activism and community building.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.

Web development experience including skills in Ruby on Rails.

Knowledge about relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle and a good working knowledge of SQL

Be proficient with Linux environments.

Be proficient with SQL databases

Solid knowledge of the software development life cycle
