The Opportunity:

The Enrollment Marketing and Digital Strategy group is growing and just added a new Web Content Writer role to the team. The Web Content Writer is a vital member of the enrollment marketing team, responsible for producing, maintaining and optimizing content across all Embry-Riddle web and digital properties, including content for its Daytona Beach, FL, Prescott, AZ, and Worldwide Campuses and other digital assets.

They will work independently to gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write copy for various web pages and blogs, including those focusing on enrollment, academic programs, university research, campus life, etc. They will research, outline, write and edit new and existing web content, while working closely with various academic and administrative departments to understand project requirements and expected deliverables. They will ensure web content is polished, fresh, user-friendly and optimized for search engines, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all properties.

A successful candidate will know how to effectively manage multiple projects, changes in scope and shifting priorities to maintain project requirements and ensure deadlines are met. The ideal candidate would have experience with and a working knowledge of UX writing and web accessibility standards. Demonstrated understanding and experience writing for SEO is required.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Gather information from subject matter experts and independently to develop, organize, and write copy for various web pages and blogs, including those focusing on enrollment, academic programs, university research, campus life, etc.

  • Use SEO techniques to ensure content can be easily found on search engines.

  • Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational standards.

  • Collaborate with departmental and cross-functional peers to ensure proper resolution to questions and issues.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field is required; Master's preferred

  • Must have demonstrated skill in writing and editing for websites with a diverse audience set, with an eye for detail.

  • Experience in higher education website writing is a plus. Experience and knowledge in the area of UX writing.

  • Experience in writing to align with web accessibility standards.

  • Experience in writing for SEO. Experienced with Microsoft operating systems, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and internet end-user applications.

  • Ability to make sound editorial decisions and judgement calls based on prospective student recruitment lifecycle as well as university policies and goals.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with administration, staff, students, and alumni. Is able to think outside of the box and to be innovative and not limited by existing methods and procedures.

  • Independent worker and self-starter who can successfully perform in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Highly organized, deadline oriented, and a skilled communicator. Must possess a professional attitude, positive spirit, and provide excellent customer service to co-workers, staff and other constituents.

  • Strong grasp and understanding of principles of writing and report preparation; spelling, grammar, punctuation.

  • Self-motivated, but able to seek guidance and direction as necessary.
