Job description

Waters Edge Lodge is currently seeking a reliable and compassionate part-time Driver to become a vital member of our dedicated team in Alameda, CA.  If you take pride in providing excellent customer service, enjoy working with seniors, and want to contribute positively to a caring community environment, this role presents a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.
 
We are currently looking to hire a part-time driver, working Tuesday thru Thursday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Pay rate is $20.00 per hour
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Safely and courteously transport residents to a variety of destinations including medical appointments, social outings, tours, and errands. You will follow established facility procedures to ensure timely and efficient trips, often coordinating closely with nursing and care staff to meet residents’ needs.

  • Provide attentive assistance to passengers as they enter and exit the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. This includes helping with mobility challenges and using proper techniques to prevent injury or discomfort.

  • Handle delivery of packages and inter-office mail, as well as take on a variety of other pick-up and delivery errands that support daily operations.

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks to ensure all company vehicles are in excellent working condition. This includes checking fluid levels such as fuel, oil, and water, as well as scheduling minor vehicle servicing when necessary to maintain safety and reliability.

  • Timely report any major vehicle maintenance issues, repairs required, or accidents to your supervisor to ensure swift resolution and continuous safety.

  • Keep vehicles clean, tidy, and well-organized, reflecting the professionalism and care that Waters Edge Lodge embodies.

Requirements:
  • A genuine passion for working with seniors and an ability to build positive, respectful relationships with residents and staff alike.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the patience and tact needed to interact carefully, kindly, and diplomatically with elderly residents, especially in difficult or challenging situations.

  • Proven professional driving experience, demonstrating reliability, safe driving habits, and knowledge of traffic laws and vehicle operation.

  • Comfort handling a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, capable of adapting quickly while maintaining focus and composure under pressure.

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, along with the ability to manage busy telephone lines, demonstrating good communication and organizational abilities.

  • Physical capability to perform duties that involve continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as pushing or pulling objects up to 200 pounds.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be at least 25 years old.
