What You Will Contribute:
The Lead Assembler is responsible for leading a team of assemblers over multiple product families. Duties include communicating with employees, management, and sales regarding daily assembly requirements and implementing safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
Job Duties:
- Coordinates the day-to-day operation by leading and directing a group of employees to assure a smooth workflow; Organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet production schedule.
- Reads and follows specifications and other instructions in order to build and assemble products and examining completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work orders, correct any problems
- Provide a thorough technical understanding of production and assembly practices.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures - Acts as liaison, representing the team in general; point of contact for general assembly and quality control questions
- Trains new employees and instructs employees on the proper use of equipment and tools
- Display strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with Managers, Planning and Customer Service.
- Provide input to improve assembly processes with a focus on safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost.
Education and Experience:
- High School Degree/GED required
- 5+ years of experience in assembly/leadership desired
Qualifications:
- Lean 101 training preferred
- Experience in a Lean environment preferred
- Experience with electronic assembly required
- Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude along with the ability to read prints and measure parts while maintaining a customer-focused mentality required
- Ability to work extended hours and occasional weekend shifts as needed required
Competencies:

Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a Manufacturing environment
- Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds and complete an audiogram test
- Those working in the Aerospace department must be able to pass a Vision, Color Vision, and Depth perception test
- This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
