Cost Accountant at Wasatch Behavioral Health - Full Time

Join Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Full-Time Cost Accountant at our Westpark location in Provo, Utah, earning $25.80–$32.68/hour. This role is a key part of our accounting team and plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in ensuring our community continues to receive essential behavioral health services. As the Cost Accountant, you'll lead the annual cost study using SQL and other software tools to calculate the true cost of each unit of service we provide. This work directly supports funding efforts and helps sustain high-quality care across our programs.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Compensation: $25.80–$32.68 DOE and Education

Sign on Bonus: $8,000 total. Half paid on the first paycheck; Remaining half paid after one year of employment *Existing WBH employees are NOT eligible for the sign on bonus and must start employment on or before June 14th, 2026*

What You'll Do as a Cost Accountant

  • Prepare and complete the agency's annual cost study using SQL and other reporting tools to calculate cost per unit of service.
  • Maintain allocation and distribution files to ensure accurate cost assignments across programs.
  • Compute, analyze, and validate service unit and utilization reports.
  • Quantify total employee-related costs, including wages, benefits, and allocations.
  • Prepare profitability and cost analysis reports to support budgeting and management decisions.
  • Compile and provide financial data and documentation for audits.
  • Track inpatient admission activity and related cost data.
  • Monitor and oversee private provider payments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor Medicaid services to ensure accurate reporting and funding compliance.
  • Complete special projects and financial analyses as assigned.
  • Provide backup support to the Financial Services Manager, payroll, and accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related accounting work.
  • Experience preparing cost studies, financial reports, and cost allocations.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools; SQL experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with internal teams and auditors.
  • Spanish speakers may qualify for a wage increase
