Job description

Southshore Companies is looking for a Site Manager to lead a team of lift truck operators, auditors, customer services representatives, supervisors and the Assistant Site Manager. The Site Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective function of our Regional Distribution Center in York, NE, meeting customer requirements and maintaining a high standard of operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the RDC. Schedule, assign, and perform various warehousing duties including loading and unloading trucks, put-away and picking, and maintaining warehouse organization and cleanliness.
  • Utilize the company's HRIS system to ensure that timecard review and approval is completed for employees and temporary employees in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure temporary service receives timecards for temporary employees for payment to their employees. 
  • Lead, motivate, and direct the warehouse staff to deliver best-in-class customer service through operational excellence.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to all site supervisory and non-supervisory personnel, and ensures the company's culture, values, and processes are upheld.  Coaching includes, but is not limited to, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, commendations, and/or terminations.  Terminations should only happen after consulting with Human Resources or the Director of Operations. 
  • Foster a team environment that motivates, inspires, educates, and empowers our team members to reach their full potential.
  • Effectively leading through clear, direct, and respectful communication.
  • Oversee inventory and audit control using warehouse management system (SAP).
  • Recruit, train, hire, and assign work to RDC staff based on the day's priorities.
  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of a ~300,000 sq. ft. warehouse using 3rd party suppliers.
  • Conduct interviews with potential team members as necessary to ensure proper staffing of the RDC team.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports according to processes and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lean thinking and a 5S mentality.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with Southshore Companies safety manual.
  • Regular (punctual and dependable) attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-10 years of warehouse management experience is required; additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
  • Leadership & management skills: must be excellent at leading, recruiting, retaining, and motivating staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources efficiently, and meet operational objectives while managing administrative duties effectively in a continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to interface and communicate with customers, the leadership team within Southshore Companies, and the customer's leadership team.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear to communicate with management, supervisors, employees, customers, and/or truck drivers.
  • Manual dexterity is required for operating machinery.
  • Occasionally required to bend, twist, turn, kneel, and/or squat.
  • Occasionally required to stand and/or walk on the concrete warehouse floor.
  • Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly required to sit at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with a warehouse.
  • Safety equipment includes but not limited to a hi-vis safety vest or shirt, safety glasses, gloves, closed toe shoes, long sleeves, long pants, above ankle socks, and masks (as needed).
