Description:

The Project Manager โ€“ Walmart Support Team is responsible for leading and coordinating operational projects that directly support the Walmart business within a food development organization serving major retail partners. This role acts as a key liaison between internal teams, external vendors, and the Walmart customer, ensuring projects and initiatives are executed with speed, accuracy, and alignment to customer expectations.

The Project Manager plays a highly operations-focused and customer-facing role, supporting initiatives such as product changes, packaging updates, compliance requirements, supply continuity, and process improvements. Success in this role requires strong project execution skills, experience supporting Walmart and/or vendors, and a high degree of adaptability in a fast-paced, customer-driven retail environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage operational projects that support Walmart initiatives, including product transitions, packaging changes, compliance updates, and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables aligned with Walmart expectations and internal operational capabilities.
  • Track project progress, dependencies, and risks; proactively address issues to ensure on-time execution.
  • Ensure projects are executed in compliance with food safety, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Serve as a key project contact supporting the Walmart business, working closely with internal customer teams.
  • Translate Walmart requirements into clear, actionable project plans for internal operations and support teams.
  • Support customer communications by providing accurate project updates, timelines, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure alignment between customer commitments and operational execution.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial and Sales to coordinate project activities across functions and sites.
  • Align production schedules, material availability, and operational resources to support customer timelines.
  • Facilitate cross-functional project meetings and ensure accountability for deliverables.
  • Support change management for operational or process changes tied to Walmart initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external vendors (e.g., service providers) to support project requirements.
  • Align vendor timelines, specifications, and deliverables with internal plans and customer commitments.
  • Monitor vendor performance and escalate risks or issues that could impact project success.
  • Support onboarding and integration of vendors into project workflows as needed.
  • Adjust project plans and priorities in response to evolving Walmart requirements, operational constraints, or supply chain changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution, communication, and operational efficiency.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to improved project management practices within the Walmart Support Team.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen customer service and operational performance.

Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of project management experience in food manufacturing, CPG, or a related operational environment.
  • Experience supporting major retail customers, with a strong understanding of customer-driven timelines and expectations.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating external vendors as part of project execution.
  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to balance customer needs and manufacturing realities.
  • High level of adaptability and comfort operating in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
