Vice President, Commercial Operations

South Florida | Hybrid | Nationwide Client Travel

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Operations to help build and scale a rapidly growing commercial HVAC division focused on multifamily and commercial projects throughout the Southeast and across the United States. This individual will serve as the operational and technical leader of the division, partnering directly with ownership to help drive growth, oversee project execution, and establish the operational infrastructure needed to support long-term expansion.

This is an opportunity for someone with extensive commercial HVAC installation and operational experience who thrives in a build-from-scratch environment and wants to play a major role in shaping the future of a growing organization.

ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Pre-Construction
  • Perform site walks and evaluate existing mechanical systems
  • Scope and estimate commercial HVAC projects, including related mechanical systems when applicable
  • Develop value-engineered proposals and project budgets
  • Assist in technical proposal presentations and client discussions
Operations & Project Oversight
  • Oversee project handoff from sales to operations
  • Develop scope packages and coordinate subcontractors
  • Monitor project execution, quality control, and delivery timelines
  • Resolve operational and project-related issues proactively
Subcontractor & Vendor Development
  • Recruit, vet, and manage subcontractor relationships across South Florida and additional target markets
  • Build and maintain a strong network of installation and specialty trade partners
  • Establish subcontractor standards, agreements, and performance expectations
Business Development Support
  • Partner with ownership during prospect meetings and presentations as the technical expert
  • Support strategic account growth and repeat customer relationships
  • Assist with industry networking, partnerships, and vertical market expansion
Leadership & Process Development
  • Build operational systems, SOPs, workflows, and quality assurance processes
  • Assist in developing pricing strategy, service offerings, and go-to-market initiatives
  • Hire, mentor, and manage future operational staff as the division grows
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience within residential and commercial mechanical contracting
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC installation systems including RTUs, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, boilers, controls/BAS, hydronics, ventilation, and ductwork
  • Strong estimating and pre-construction experience
  • Proven experience managing commercial mechanical projects from start to completion
  • Experience working within multifamily, institutional housing, office, industrial, retail, healthcare, hospitality, and educational facilities
  • Established subcontractor relationships within South Florida preferred
  • Strong client-facing communication and technical presentation skills
  • Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Tech-forward mindset with experience utilizing AI and estimating/proposal software tools preferred
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel as needed
  • Florida mechanical licensing (CMC or equivalent) strongly preferred
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $130K โ€“ $170K DOE
