Job description

General Summary:

Under general supervision, complete the full cycle of mortgage loan application from receipt of loan application to final loan documentation process and preparation for funding. VP Mortgage Loan Officer is primarily responsible for generation of origination prospects through the following outbound sales activity: networking, outbound marketing, and solicitation of existing members and new members to achieve assigned corporate goals. 


VP Mortgage Loan Officer may be assigned a retail branch and receive new mortgage referrals from CCU employees. VP Mortgage Loan officer must utilize lending knowledge and experience to ensure an elevated level of member service and satisfaction. In accordance with Processing, Underwriting, and Funding this position will be responsible for helping members and non-members with the entire loan process. 


The primary objective of this position is to assist applicants by providing exceptional service for purchase and refinance originations. Make outbound calls to new and existing applicants. Communicate in person, via e-mail, with processing, underwriting, and funding groups on individual loans.



Principal Accountabilities (70%):

Inputs loan information into LOS (Loan Origination System) and FNMA D/UGuide applicants through CCU Product types (Fixed Rate or ARM) and corresponding interest ratesSolicit members and new members through outbound activityAnticipate and communicate borrower document needs: tax returns, paystubs, bank statements etc.Generate mortgage originations through self-sourced marketing activityPrequalify applicants through analysis of credit, income, DTI, and assets Market CCU products to referral partners and borrowersEffective management of pipeline to ensure files move from application to approval, and through closingMaintains communication with applicants, Mortgage Loan Processors, and operational staff regarding the status of loansSolicit loan terms in accordance with California Credit Union products, services, and pricing strategiesEnsure applications are complete and accurateNegotiate and coordinate rate lock confirmations with applicants(s)Provide exceptional service to applicants and internal customersCompletes the mortgage application:

                   a. Verify membership for all borrowers on loan applications by accessing DNA

                   b. Complete the employment section in LOS

                   c. Input the income section of the mortgage application

                   d. Input and/or update Financing Information

                   e. Input housing expense

                   f. Complete assets section of the application

                   g. Input the Real Estate Owned section of the application

                   h. Review the credit report with the applicant(s) ensuring that a current one is in the file

                   i. Complete the declarations and government monitoring section of the application is current

  • Assist in the initial disclosure process as needed

Position Requirement and Qualifications: 

Abilities:

Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses:

    Active NMLS requiredHigh School Diploma required

Experience:

    Three (3) years of origination experience with a lending institution with at least three (3) years of provable and documented origination history (2023 to 2025 and YTD of 2026)

This is a highly performance-driven position with a compensation structure that includes a base salary and a monthly commission/incentive program designed to reward mortgage loan production, referral generation, relationship development, and overall business growth.
