Job description

Vice President of Manufacturing Operations

Monroe, NY | Full-Time | Onsite

$200,000–$250,000 + Performance Bonus

Company

We are a growing manufacturing company investing in operational excellence, Lean manufacturing, and leadership development to support our next stage of growth.

Manufacturing is at the center of everything we do. We believe operational discipline, continuous improvement, accountability, and strong leadership drive profitability and create long-term competitive advantage.

As we continue to scale, we are looking for an executive manufacturing leader who can strengthen our operation, improve financial performance, and build the systems and leadership infrastructure required for sustained growth.

Business Need

Our manufacturing operation has reached a point where stronger executive leadership is required.

We're looking for a Vice President of Manufacturing Operations who will own manufacturing performance, operational profitability, and continuous improvement across the business.

This is not a role for someone who enjoys living in the day-to-day production environment.

Instead, we're looking for a leader who develops managers, builds systems, drives Lean initiatives, improves margins, and creates a manufacturing organization capable of operating at a world-class level.

For the right individual, this role provides the opportunity to grow into a future Chief Operating Officer position.

Position Overview

The Vice President of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the manufacturing organization.

This executive will lead multiple manufacturing and operational departments through department managers while owning operational strategy, Lean transformation, operational P&L, capital planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Success requires someone with deep manufacturing experience, exceptional business acumen, and the ability to develop high-performing leaders while driving measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, throughput, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Manufacturing Leadership

  • Lead multiple manufacturing and operational departments through department managers.

  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, urgency, and operational excellence.

  • Develop high-performing leaders capable of delivering results independently.

  • Create an operating cadence built around KPIs, execution, and continuous improvement.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives that improve productivity, reduce waste, optimize labor, and increase throughput.

  • Standardize manufacturing processes and establish scalable operating procedures.

  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and sustainable operational improvements.

  • Establish KPI dashboards that measure productivity, quality, labor efficiency, inventory performance, and operational profitability.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Own the operational P&L with direct responsibility for improving margins, reducing manufacturing costs, and increasing profitability.

  • Drive improvements in labor utilization, material efficiency, inventory performance, and cost of goods sold.

  • Evaluate production capacity, equipment utilization, automation opportunities, and capital investments.

  • Partner with executive leadership to develop long-term manufacturing strategy and operational growth plans.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.

  • Proven success leading multiple manufacturing departments through department managers.

  • Strong manufacturing background with the credibility to lead complex production environments.

  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proven ability to improve throughput, labor productivity, quality, and operational profitability.

  • Experience owning or directly managing operational P&L, budgeting, cost control, and margin improvement.

  • Track record building KPI-driven organizations and developing high-performing operational leaders.

  • Strong executive presence with the business acumen to balance operational execution with long-term strategic growth.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12 months, you will:

  • Improve manufacturing efficiency and overall plant performance.

  • Deliver measurable improvements in operational profitability and manufacturing margins.

  • Reduce waste and operating costs through Lean initiatives and process improvements.

  • Build stronger manufacturing leaders and increase accountability across the organization.

  • Establish scalable systems, KPIs, and operational disciplines that support continued growth.

  • Position the manufacturing organization to support future expansion while maintaining operational excellence.

Who Will Thrive

This opportunity is designed for a manufacturing executive who wants to build something exceptional.

You understand manufacturing from the production floor to the executive boardroom.

You know how to improve profitability through better operations—not simply by reducing costs.

You build leaders instead of becoming the leader everyone depends on.

You think in systems, measure performance through data, and create accountability that drives results.

Most importantly, you possess the mindset of a future Chief Operating Officer—someone who sees manufacturing not simply as production, but as the engine that drives the entire business.
