About Your Role:
As the Vice President, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at Dollar Tree's corporate office, you'll lead the strategy and execution of environmental, health, and safety programs across our retail stores, distribution centers, transportation network, and corporate facilities. You'll establish a world-class EHS function that ensures regulatory compliance, mitigates operational risk, promotes environmental stewardship, and fosters a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization. Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategic Leadership & Culture
  • Set the enterprise EHS vision, priorities, and governance model aligned with company goals.
  • Champion a proactive safety and environmental culture, integrating EHS into business operations and leadership development.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a nationwide EHS team, including regional managers and functional experts.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/local regulatory requirements across all facilities.
  • Maintain all required EHS reporting and documentation; oversee audits, inspections, and responses to enforcement actions.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies related to hazardous materials, fire safety, workplace ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
Operational Execution & Support
  • Embed safety into operational processes for stores, distribution centers, and transportation operations by partnering closely with Store Operations, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Facilities.
  • Lead serious incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Manage crisis preparedness and response plans for emergencies, natural disasters, and environmental incidents.
Environmental Programs
  • Oversee waste management, pollution prevention, air and water quality compliance, and hazardous substance protocols.
  • Drive alignment with corporate sustainability initiatives and ESG reporting efforts, where applicable.
Metrics & Accountability
  • Establish KPIs to measure safety performance, incident rates, and compliance.
  • Leverage data and analytics to identify trends, target problem areas, and inform executive decision-making.
  • Report regularly to the COO and other senior leaders on performance, trends, and strategic recommendations.

Your Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Environmental Health & Safety, preferably within multi-site retail, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, or similar operational environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable state and local regulations and standards.
  • Proven track record of reducing injury rates, improving compliance, and building high-performing safety teams.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with EHS management systems and digital tools such as Enablon, Intelex, VelocityEHS, or similar platforms.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or equivalent.
