Job description

Position Overview
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is a registered nurse or other clinician, with expert level clinical knowledge in the relevant area, or physician, with informatics experience. They are knowledgeable with the clinical processes and practice, relevant regulatory requirements and recommendations, and principles of quality/safety improvement.
This position will use their knowledge of clinical sciences, computer science, and information science towards improving the health of the UHS patient population and surrounding communities.
This informaticist uses their clinical and informatics skills for assessment, planning, training, implementation, evaluation and optimization of clinical informatics projects. They actively engage in group meetings/activities, is able to independently lead group discussions and works as a change agent within focused workgroups. This informaticist is able to identify gaps between best practice operational needs and current EHR build, collaborating with the EHR team as the clinical expert to develop, plan, and test build changes. They participate as a liaison between clinical operations and Information Services to ensure multi- and inter-disciplinary project coordination.
This position reports up through the Director of Informatics to the Vice President for Informatics.
This position maintains a close working relationship with nursing organizational structure providing a nursing perspective and articulating nursing and provider needs related to technology integration within patient care delivery.
They participate in communications, project planning, testing, and implementation of clinical system upgrades, clinical device integration, and other UHS enterprise clinical and information services initiatives.

Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or relevant clinical field.
  • Five years of clinical experience in the inpatient or ambulatory care setting.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in clinical informatics.
  • Four or more years in clinical informatics related experience
  • Epic experience & certifications

License/Certification
Minimum Required:
  • One Epic certification within one year of hire.

Preferred:
  • National certification in clinical informatics.
