Vice President, Finance

Old Republic Risk Management (ORRM) is seeking a strategic and people-focused Vice President, Finance to lead our financial reporting team and help shape the future of our finance organization.
This newly created leadership role is ideal for an accomplished accounting professional who enjoys building relationships, developing teams, and leading organizations through change. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, this position will partner closely with the CFO, Deputy CFO, VP Controller, and parent company finance leaders to strengthen financial reporting processes, challenge traditional thinking, and identify opportunities to improve how work gets done.
Based in our Brookfield, Wisconsin headquarters, this position will travel at least once per month for two to three days to Pennsylvania to collaborate with finance team members and business partners.
What You'll Do
Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the financial reporting team, fostering an environment of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Build trust and engagement while leading teams through change and process evolution.
  • Mentor team members and create opportunities for professional growth and succession planning.

Lead Financial Reporting Excellence
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, statutory filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Direct the preparation and filing of insurance-related statutory reporting, annual statements, Risk-Based Capital (RBC) reports, and other required regulatory submissions.
  • Partner across finance leadership to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance activities.
  • Support both statutory and GAAP financial reporting activities and contribute to the continued enhancement of reporting capabilities.

Drive Transformation and Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities to modernize and streamline reporting activities, and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Bring fresh perspectives and innovative thinking to long-standing processes and challenges.
  • Lead change initiatives with a focus on communication, engagement, and successful adoption.
  • Partner with finance leadership and the parent company to strengthen processes, controls, and reporting practices.

Serve as a Strategic Business Partner
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, finance partners, auditors, regulators, and parent company stakeholders on financial reporting matters and strategic initiatives.
  • Translate complex accounting and reporting concepts into practical business insights and recommendations.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships that enable effective decision-making and organizational success.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPA designation preferred; candidates who have successfully completed CPA requirements and are eligible for licensure will also be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success developing teams and leading through change.
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a newly created role and bring structure, vision, and forward-thinking ideas to the organization.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Insurance industry experience, including knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), insurance regulatory reporting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong GAAP financial reporting experience.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.

Insurance experience is strongly preferred but not required. We welcome experienced accounting leaders from other industries who bring exceptional people leadership capabilities, a strong technical accounting foundation, and a demonstrated ability to lead teams and organizations through change.
