Job description

At PPV, an MCE Company, we’re growing – and we’re hiring an Technician to help us grow even further!

The Valve Technician is responsible for the assembly, inspection, testing, and calibration of control valves and related equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and customer requirements. This role plays a key part in ensuring product reliability and performance by accurately diagnosing issues, performing precision measurements, and maintaining high quality standards.

Essential duties

  • Locate, use, and comprehend manufacturer installation and operation manuals
  • Perform inspection to identify necessary corrective action as authorized
  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot valves and other equipment per applicable codes and standards per manufacturer and/or customer requirements
  • Install instrumentation/accessories as necessary
  • Perform calibration of measurement equipment in accordance with internal quality procedures
  • Measure and record critical dimensions per manufacturer specifications
  • May act in a leadership role for assigned area

Required skills/abilities

  • Must have relevant experience pertaining to maintenance and service of pressure relief valves.
  • Education & Experience:
    • HS Education or GED Equivalent a plus
  • Skills & Abilities (Comprehension & mechanical aptitude)
    • Successful completion of all applicable Quality Standardization Procedures
    • Ability to properly assemble and test valves/equipment of multiple relief valve manufacturers
    • Proficient use of precision dimensional equipment (i.e. dial caliper, micrometer, etc.)
    • Ability to bend and fit tubing
    • Effective oral & written communication skills
    • Demonstrated “can do” attitude and excellent customer service skills
    • Can work independently with minimal supervision

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Lifting: up to 50 pounds
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
  • Lift and carry: 50 pounds for 100 feet
  • Bending, stooping, walking and climbing stairs
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools
  • Operating motor vehicles/ Forklift
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
