Job description

Job Overview:

Our organization is seeking a Vice President of Ambulatory Health Informatics, who will serve as the Ambulatory Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) and a physician executive. This role is pivotal in guiding the strategic vision and overseeing the management of clinical information systems across all outpatient care environments within our network. The individual will spearhead the development, execution, and enhancement of ambulatory clinical systems, ensuring that technology initiatives align seamlessly with the delivery of clinical care in outpatient settings. This position will report to the Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) to guarantee that technology investments and implementations bolster the organization’s ambulatory clinical goals while improving practice efficiency and patient outcomes.

Pay Transparency: The expected annual salary range for this role, if based in New Jersey, is $300,000.00 - $400,000.00 per year.

The final compensation for the selected candidate will be influenced by various factors, including educational qualifications, skills, and professional experience.

Reports to:

  • The Vice President of Ambulatory Health Informatics will report directly to the Senior Vice President & Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO).

Qualifications:

  • Must be a licensed and board-certified MD/DO with recent clinical experience and the capability to maintain an active ambulatory practice within our organization.

  • Board Certification in Clinical Informatics and their respective clinical specialty is required.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in a physician informatics leadership role with increasing responsibilities in a complex, multi-specialty healthcare setting.

  • Preferred qualifications include Fellowship Training in Medical Informatics, a degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or a master’s in clinical informatics.

  • Epic Certifications, particularly as a Physician Builder, are preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Strategic planning for ambulatory clinical systems.

  • Enhancing clinical decision support and optimizing workflows for outpatient care.

  • Encouraging clinician adoption and engagement in ambulatory and clinic environments.

  • Leading population health and preventive care initiatives.

  • Integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning into ambulatory care.

  • Standardizing clinical documentation and templates.

  • Optimizing clinical workflows within practice settings.

  • Collaborating with academic institutions to promote research and the development of a Clinical Informatics Fellowship.

  • Balancing 80% administrative duties with 20% clinical responsibilities.

  • Being a respected and trusted clinician and informaticist.

  • Exhibiting openness and accountability in all interactions.

  • Driving change through effective communication and evidence-based support.

  • Fostering teamwork and collaboration.

  • Staying informed about major healthcare trends and familiar with point-of-care products and medical informatics tools.

  • Demonstrating expertise in process improvement, data analysis, and utilizing information systems for outcome measurement and management.

  • Embodying high reliability principles and thriving in a High Reliability Organization.
