Fund Accountant

Alternative Investment / Family Office

San Francisco, CA

Overview

Hiring firm is a family office and alternative investment firm located in San Francisco. They strive to hire individuals interested in performing in challenging and demanding roles. Job experience, skills, and an excellent attitude are all equally critical to succeed in the role. The position described below requires a customer support orientation, a disposition to work and assist others to maximize productivity and efficiency. Previous experience in a small organization with a complex business and performing a diversity of responsibilities would be helpful to be in tune with this position. This role is approximately 50% focused on the principal's personal finances and 50% focused on the principal's personal investment vehicles and foundation (venture capital strategy).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, yearly reporting, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset reconciliations, and expense allocations
  • Help prepare year-end financial statements and performance calculations
  • Lead external audits and other ancillary projects performed by external auditors
  • Analyze expenses, including allocation of fund related expenses
  • Maintain internal accounting and investor relations files, and fixed asset records
  • Reconcile trade breaks and outstanding daily workflow items
  • Prepare and update marketing and performance materials, and ad hoc investor reporting projects.
  • Prepare internal reporting for GPs; and assist with capital calls and distributions
  • Liaise with investment teams on valuation updates and inquiries
  • Prepare fund tax documents and reports; assist with review of investor tax information reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business degree; CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience at a venture capital, private equity, or other investment advisors
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • office or public accounting firm, including personnel management and heavy client contact
  • Experience with relevant software (QuickBooks Online and Investran) a plus, and familiarity with custodian platforms (Citizens Bank, Merrill Lynch, and CitiBank) highly desirable
