Job description

Position Summary
Vision IT is seeking a Knowledge Management / Software Developer to support mission-critical IT and data management operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This role combines software development, knowledge management system support, and cybersecurity-aligned practices to improve information sharing, data accessibility, and operational efficiency across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong development skills, experience supporting enterprise knowledge management platforms, and the ability to operate in a secure, defense-related environment.
(This Position is Contingent Upon Award)
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain knowledge management solutions and enterprise applications supporting Air Force operations
  • Support content organization, data lifecycle management, and knowledge-sharing systems
  • Develop and maintain web-based applications, tools, and automation scripts
  • Integrate data from multiple sources into structured knowledge repositories
  • Ensure systems comply with DoD cybersecurity and information assurance standards
  • Collaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and mission stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot application and platform issues in a secure environment
  • Support documentation, technical writing, and system process improvements
  • Assist in implementation and sustainment of KM platforms (e.g., SharePoint or similar systems)
Required Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be current and maintainable)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification)
  • Experience in software development (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Experience working with knowledge management systems or enterprise content platforms
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices
  • Strong understanding of data organization, taxonomy, and information architecture
  • Ability to work onsite at LAAFB full-time
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government IT environments
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or similar KM platforms
  • Experience with API integration and database management (SQL or NoSQL)
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting mission operations or defense-related programs
