POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE
Volunteer Assistant Coach-High School
QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. minimum required.
  • Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • NFHS Coach Level 1 Certification (NFHS Learning Center).
  • First-Aid and CPR certification required.
  • One year of coaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate interest in and an aptitude for performing the responsibilities of the sport.

High School Head Varsity Coach
JOB GOAL
To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists head varsity coach with athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Assists in supervision of all student-athletes in athletic program.
  • Assists head varsity coach for any special needs, i.e., awards night, parent meetings.
  • Makes suggestions and recommendations that will help the program.
  • Encourages sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
  • Attends pre-season organizational meetings as assigned by head varsity coach.
  • Participates in professional development and becomes current to new coaching strategies.
  • Familiarizes with and adheres to school board policies, particularly those governing student nondiscrimination, anti-harassment, bullying, mandatory reporting, student record confidentiality, and other pertinent school board policies.
  • Assists in the enforcement of the athletic code of conduct according to Parent/Student-Athlete and High School and Middle School Employee Handbook.
  • Prepares and serves willingly as head coach in the absence of the head coach for any reason.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
No compensation anytime duration of volunteer work.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
