LifeScape is seeking a passionate and organized Volunteer Specialist to promote, support, and enhance volunteer engagement across all LifeScape services. This role is responsible for cultivating meaningful volunteer experiences through recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, retention, and recognition efforts. The Volunteer Services Specialist serves as an advocate for LifeScape's mission, core values, and culture while utilizing person-centered practices to create impactful opportunities for volunteers and the individuals we support.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Program Management
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day volunteer activities across all LifeScape services.
  • Support volunteer onboarding, placement, scheduling, and stewardship activities.
  • Orient volunteers and actively participate in volunteer programs and events.
  • Maintain volunteer records, files, databases, and reporting systems.
  • Evaluate volunteer performance, gather feedback from department supervisors, and provide ongoing support and coaching.
  • Conduct facility tours for prospective volunteers, donors, and community partners.
  • Assist with the distribution of in-kind donations.

Recruitment & Retention
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment campaigns, interviews, presentations, and community outreach efforts.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with individual volunteers, volunteer groups, and LifeScape Ambassadors.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recognition programs that celebrate volunteer contributions.
  • Support recurring volunteer groups and individuals through engagement and retention strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Development Department to recruit volunteers for fundraising and special events.

Program Development
  • Collaborate with service departments to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
  • Design meaningful volunteer activities that align with organizational goals and participant interests.
  • Create activities that encourage creativity, learning, skill development, and community engagement.
  • Ensure volunteer opportunities are age-appropriate, cost-effective, goal-oriented, and person-centered.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation.
  • Generate reports as requested.
  • Assist in maintaining volunteer and in-kind donation databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong event planning and coordination skills, including volunteer engagement and event execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to proactively engage volunteers, community groups, and team members.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with activity planning that promotes creativity, learning, life skills, and meaningful engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and the ability to learn organization-specific software systems.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of person-centered thinking practices, personal outcome measures, and basic assurances preferred.
  • Familiarity with volunteer engagement trends and community volunteer resources preferred.

Requirements
Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Three to five years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
    • Minimum of one year of volunteer management, coordination, or supervisory experience preferred.
    • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record required.
    • Ability to meet internal training requirements within established timelines.
      All positions require a clear background check and drug screen upon conditional offer.
