Job description

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Medical Records Abstractor/Analyst abstracts and performs data entry into the computer for all medical records. S/he also analyzes medical records for deficiencies such as missing signatures, documentation or dictation in accordance with Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulation standards. 

Education: A High school dipoloma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.  Associate Degree in Health Information Technology preferred. Medical terminology and medical coding training from an accredited institution is desired.

Licensure/Certification:  None required. RHIT preferred.

Experience:  A minimum of 6 months’ previous medical record and keyboarding experience necessary.

Skills:  Competency in keyboarding, medical terminology is preferred.
