Job description

PURPOSE:

The fitness coach is a fitness professional who focuses on improving the physical and nutritional wellness of the Health and Wellness Center clients by determining the client's goals and creating a routine the client can follow to meet their goals. They may work individually with clients and may also teach fitness classes. The Health Coach, working alongside the Fitness Coordinator, and Wellness Coach to provide a collaborative care approach to client services.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage fitness programming for clients.
  • Lead group exercise classes, continuously monitoring and adjusting types of classes and times to meet the interests and needs of clients. Programming will include purpose-based and functional fitness classes as well as traditional fitness classes appropriate to the Endeavors Wellness Model.
  • Actively encourage client and employee participation in activities and classes.
  • Promote and facilitate the use of available fitness equipment
  • Schedules and maintains reservations for all classes.
  • Schedules group classes taught by staff, contracted and volunteer instructors, including developing and maintaining a list of Yoga, and other fitness instructors to provide programs.
  • Facilitates fitness assessments with clients; enters information into appropriate forms or documentation.
  • Ensures all contracts, certifications and liability waivers are up to date.
  • Develop an individual comprehensive fitness program that addresses the individual clientโ€™s needs and abilities in all levels of care without stigma or shame.
  • Provide personal and group fitness instruction for clients, which includes equipment orientation, a personal fitness assessment, and monitoring the ongoing progress of clients.
  • Provides strength training.
  • Assist clients in determining their own goals for movement and physical and nutritional wellness, the clients' understanding of how to best utilize gym equipment towards those goals, and model exercises for clients.
  • Answers questions regarding programs offered through Endeavors' services available to the clients.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: CPR and First Aid certification, personal training certification through ACE, NASM or ACSM.

EDUCATION: Bachelorโ€™s degree, preferably in a related field such as kinesiology, or exercise physiology, or relevant work experience can be used in place of degree.

EXPERIENCE: Preferred two-four years of progressively responsible experience in supervision of staff/program development. Required two years of direct fitness programming, strength training, specialty certificates or training in Yoga, or Tai Chi. Experience working with first responder community.
