Job description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION/ POSITION SUMMARY:
The First Robotics Sponsors will supervise students during builds and competitions. The Sponsors will supervise students in planning and executing events throughout the year. The Sponsors will organize approved fundraisers throughout the year in order to meet the needs of the club's expenses as applicable. Grants funding is heavily utilized to help cover expenses of the club and sponsors need to continue to keep applications for the grant funding current to help the club's financial security.

  • Register the team for regional competitions (regional and world)
  • Manage student registration for FIRST
  • Manage the dashboard for all FIRST team requirements
  • Build sponsorship for sustainability
  • Organize events and meetings
  • Record team goals and communicate effectively so all stakeholders are aware
  • Communicate with students and parents
  • Create or work with other coaches to establish sub team meetings
  • Recruit volunteer experts (engineers, technology, event organizers)
  • Assists with writing college letters of recommendation for students per their request.
  • Maintains a variety of documents including club's activity account budget, as applicable
  • Makes transportation requests a minimum of 20 days in advance
  • Communicates all student achievements and accomplishments within the program to the activity director in a timely fashion so that they can be highlighted in parent/staff and student communication.
  • Work in the build room
  • Maintains attendance records for all competitions
  • Works within the given budget and keeps accurate records of the monies used and received
  • Follows fundraising procedures according to District policies
  • Recruits student participants each school year
  • Requests room space for meetings and events
  • Confirms the security of the facilities
  • Ensures that students have a way to get home and remains present until the last student is released
  • Promotes and publicizes club meetings and events
  • Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner
  • Collaborates with administration to maintain the vision of the Strategic Goals and purpose of the club/activity
  • Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the club
  • Completes all training and certification required by the District
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

SKILLS: Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE: Previous successful experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred. Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols.
ABILITY: Establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed.
