Job description

Investigations Analyst I

The Investigations Analyst I is responsible for identifying, resolving, and mitigating company losses. This will be accomplished predominantly through data analytics to detect irregular activity and trends. The ability to detect anomalies in data and build out actionable and clear reporting and/or investigations originating from disparate data is required. The Investigations Analyst will also support investigations, as needed, for other groups within the organization. This would include (but not limited to) general ad-hoc requests for data analytics, BOLO creation, or intelligence gathering on persons or entities. The incumbent should also be able to prioritize work autonomously and be unfazed by ambiguity or frequent changes in priorities.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes Exception-based reporting tools and remote view CCTV capabilities to identify and investigate instances of theft and fraud.
  • Conduct transaction reviews and risk assessments to provide insights to support interviews and decision-making.
  • Supports complex investigations into shrink, safety, and operational issues, ensuring robust root-cause analysis and case development.
  • Perform data extraction and analysis from multiple data sources to collect and analyze retail data for analytical auditing and reporting.
  • Conducts Inventory Shrink analysis to uncover and mitigate various sources of loss.
  • Develop presentations, spreadsheets, and reports.
  • Monitor shrink patterns, identify trends, and create strategies to stay ahead of emerging issues.
  • All Other Duties As Assigned

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Years of experience: 2+ years of data analytics, preferably focused on fraud risk

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiar with Asset Protection reporting platforms for use of investigations.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (excel, word & PowerPoint a must).
  • Proficient in analyzing data, identifying patterns, and drawing actionable insights.
  • Excellent problem solving analytical and investigative skills, detail-orientation, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all investigative activities.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10% for industry training and/or conferences

Physical Requirements:

Regularly sits and works on a computer.

Occasionally stands and walks.

Seldom/never lifts up to 50 lbs.

Independent Judgement:

Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
