Job description

Job Summary
The JV Volleyball Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director. The successful candidate will be required to follow the procedures of the high school’s athletic program, as well as those of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA).
Essential Duties
● Has full responsibility for the overall supervision and development of the JV Girl’s volleyball team.
● In coordination with the Athletic Director and Varsity Coach, plans and implements team activities, tryouts, practices.
● Teaches student-athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of the designated sport throughout the season.
● Follows league policies and site procedures, and all regulations set forth in Divine Child Coaches’ handbook.● Fosters training in conduct, ethics and sportsmanship for all participants and coaches.
● Responsible for the safety and security of the team before, during, and after events and traveling to and from events. Coach may be required to ride the bus with the team.
● Verifies that the Athletic Director clears each team member before allowing him/her to tryout or practice as it pertains to academic, behavioral or medical eligibility.
● Responsible for distribution, collection, and general upkeep of all uniforms and equipment and providing an end of the season inventory.
● Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted at all times athletes are present.
● Reports any unsafe conditions to the administration in a timely manner.
● Promotes the JV Volleyball program by prompt, accurate reporting of scores to the local media while maintaining a positive relationship with the local media.
● Attends a preseason parent orientation meeting for all levels to review eligibility, athletic code, team rules, and risk factors for all athletes.
● Complies with time constraints for practice and contest schedules, including holidays as well as off-season schedules.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicant Requirements:
● Coaching experience preferred, but not required.
● Applicants must have basic knowledge of skills and techniques.
● Applicants must have experience at the high school varsity, club, and/or college level.
● Familiarity with the Catholic High School League and knowledge of the MHSAA organizations preferred. Willingness to meet all League and state coaching requirements.
● Strong interpersonal skills.
● Ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, student athletes and parents.
● Support the growth of the student athletes in virtue, discipleship and living the Catholic faith.
● Must take Protecting God's Children workshop, have a background check and digital fingerprints.
● After School availability (3:00 pm or after) for practices and events.
● Saturday availability during season.
