What does a FIFA referee do during a game?

A FIFA referee is responsible for enforcing the Laws of the Game during international football matches. They ensure fair play by making decisions on fouls, goals, penalties, and other key aspects of the game. FIFA referees are also tasked with managing player conduct, issuing yellow and red cards when necessary, and collaborating with assistant referees and video assistant referees (VAR) to make accurate judgments. Their role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and flow of the match.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a FIFA referee per game?

To thrive as a FIFA Referee per game, you need a deep understanding of the Laws of the Game, excellent physical fitness, and official FIFA certification. These abilities are crucial to ensure fair play, uphold the integrity of the match, and effectively handle high-pressure situations.

What are some common challenges FIFA referees face during a match, and how do they address them?
