Position Overview
Pay Rate: $14.00 - $16.00/Hour
Work Schedule
  • Girls Volleyball Season: February 15th, 2027- April 3rd, 2027. Dates subject to change
  • Monday & Wednesday, possibly Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 8pm for practices and Saturday morning early afternoon for 4 gamedays.

Job Summary
As a City of Billings Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands Volleyball Coach you will be expected to demonstrate, instruct, and develop basic volleyball specific skills with participants in 3rd-5th grade. The coach is responsible for all aspects of directing the team's practice and play in games. An understanding of the specific sport is required. The instructor's level of play should be at the high school level. All equipment is provided by Billings Parks and Recreation. Coaches will be expected to act as gym supervisors and a liaison for the parks and recreation department and be responsible for overseeing the school facility, coaching, game play, officiating, and score keeping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a positive role model to players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches by following all rules and demonstrating good sportsmanship
  • Teach volleyball skills using planned practices and games at an appropriate level for each participant
  • Organize the players to participate in games while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, giving each child an equal opportunity to participate.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of volleyball rules and bylaws preferred.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Operate timing devices and/or the official scorebook for the designated sport.
  • Background knowledge and/or playing experience in the sport of volleyball preferred.
  • Professional, confident, and capable of dealing with players, parents, officials, and fans.
  • Reliable transportation to and from games.
  • Enjoy working with kids.
