Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Contractor VMware Engineer to support the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of our VMware-based virtualization environment. This role will focus on maintaining stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure while supporting ongoing projects, upgrades, and operational needs. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and administer VMware environments including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related components 
  • Perform day-to-day operational support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of virtual infrastructure 
  • Execute upgrades, patches, and migrations for VMware platforms and associated tools 
  • Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and availability improvements 
  • Configure and maintain HA, DRS, vMotion, and fault tolerance features 
  • Collaborate with storage, network, security, and server teams to ensure integrated solutions 
  • Support backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., VMware SRM, Veeam, Commvault, or similar) 
  • Assist with incident response, root cause analysis, and documentation 
  • Provide technical input for infrastructure projects and architecture decisions 
  • Create and maintain operational documentation and runbooks 

Expectations:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position based in Irving, TX. 
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required. 

Years of Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering VMware virtualization environments 
  • Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable):
  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter 
  • Solid understanding of Windows and Linux server environments 
  • Working knowledge of enterprise storage (SAN/NAS) and networking concepts (VLANs, NIC teaming, DNS, TCP/IP) 
  • Experience supporting production environments with high availability requirements 
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues under time constraints 

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) 
  • Experience with cloud or hybrid environments (Azure VMware Solution, AWS, etc.) 
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python) 
  • Experience with monitoring tools and infrastructure-as-code concepts 
  • Prior experience in large enterprise or regulated environments 

Preferred Industry Experience:

  • Convenience Retail, Fuel Operations, Supply Chain 

Salary/Rate: $50-$55/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.
