VMware Admin - Smarthands
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on VMware Administrator to provide onsite infrastructure support. This role will serve as the primary local IT infrastructure resource, responsible for VMware administration, datacenter smart-hands support, basic networking tasks, and troubleshooting server and hardware issues. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded infrastructure professional who enjoys working directly with hardware, supporting remote engineering teams, and maintaining a stable virtualized environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support VMware vSphere environments.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot VMware hosts, virtual machines, storage, and performance issues.
  • Provide onsite smart-hands support for server, storage, networking, and datacenter equipment.
  • Perform hardware installations, moves, upgrades, cabling, and device replacements.
  • Support basic networking functions including switch port configuration, connectivity troubleshooting, and patching.
  • Coordinate with remote infrastructure and engineering teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Assist with system monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and incident response activities.
  • Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, switches, and related infrastructure.
  • Document infrastructure changes, procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support local end users and business operations as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of VMware administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and virtual machine management.
  • Experience supporting servers, storage, and datacenter infrastructure.
  • Basic networking troubleshooting experience including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and switching.
  • Experience with hardware installations, cabling, and smart-hands support.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an onsite environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Windows Server administration.
  • Exposure to enterprise storage technologies.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment.
  • Experience supporting backup and recovery solutions.
  • Understanding of Active Directory and Microsoft infrastructure.
  • VMware certifications (VCP) are a plus.
