Job Title: VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS)

Onsite Location: Franklin, TN  (Hybrid)

Job Description:

VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS) – SDDC Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS) SDDC Subject Matter Expert with deep expertise across VMware’s hybrid cloud stack, including vSphere, NSX-T, vSAN, HCX, and VMware Cloud Foundation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecture, deployment, troubleshooting, and operations of VMware hybrid cloud environments, with a strong focus on VMC on AWS integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Deployment

  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC environments.
  • Architect and implement NSX-T components including micro-segmentation, DFW, routing (Tier-0/Tier-1), and load balancing.
  • Plan and execute HCX migrations (bulk migration, vMotion, RAV, cold migration).
  • Integrate on-premises VMware environments with AWS services (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, etc.).
  • Evaluate, test, and implement upgrades, patches, and enhancements across the VMware stack.

Operations & Troubleshooting

• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for:

o vSphere, ESXi, vCenter

o vSAN o NSX-T

o HCX o vRealize Suite (vRA, vROps, vRLI)

o SRM and replication technologies

  • Support day-to-day operations of hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + VMC).
  • Monitor and optimize performance, capacity, and availability of VMware infrastructure.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with cloud, network, and security teams to ensure seamless workload mobility and hybrid cloud integration.
  • Develop documentation, runbooks, and best practices for VMware Cloud operations.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and provide SME guidance for cloud transformation initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert-level knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, vMotion.
  • Deep hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T (routing, DFW, micro-segmentation, NAT, VPN, BGP/OSPF).
  • Strong understanding of VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC) architecture and operations.

  • Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VPN, NAT.
  • Experience performing advanced troubleshooting and RCA across VMware components.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Azure VMware Solution (AVS).
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with Carbon Black, vRealize Automation, vRealize Operations, vRLI.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services: VPC, EC2, Direct Connect, TGW, IAM.
  • Experience with Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and disaster recovery planning.
  • VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, VCIX, VCDX) are a strong plus.
