VMware Architect

We are seeking an experienced VMware Architect with expertise in cloud infrastructure migration, particularly for migrating VMware environments to Red Hat OpenShift and Nutanix on Dell hardware. This role will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing migration strategies while ensuring a seamless transition to new platforms. As a key player in the migration team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess current VMware environments, develop migration blueprints, and implement optimized, scalable, and reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and architecture of comprehensive migration solutions from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift and Nutanix on Dell hardware, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Develop and execute detailed migration plans, including timelines, resource requirements, risk assessments, and contingency planning.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, and Nutanix infrastructure, supporting the technical migration team and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Analyze current VMware workloads, networking, storage, and dependencies, to plan optimized migration paths to the target platforms.
  • Utilize automation tools and scripts to streamline migration and configuration tasks, ensuring efficient and error-free deployments.
  • Post-migration, monitor and optimize performance on Red Hat and Nutanix platforms, ensuring workloads are stable, scalable, and meeting required service levels.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for architecture designs, migration plans, and troubleshooting guides; provide training to operations and support teams post-migration.
  • Work with project managers, developers, infrastructure teams, and external vendors to ensure project goals are achieved within budget and timelines.
  • Implement and uphold security best practices and compliance standards across the new infrastructure environment.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in VMware architecture, with at least 3 years in cloud infrastructure migration projects.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX), or Red Hat Certified Specialist is a great plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with VMware vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN.
    • Expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and Nutanix infrastructure, including deployment, configuration, and management.
    • Hands-on experience with Dell hardware environments, particularly in designing scalable infrastructure for cloud and hybrid models.
    • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Python).
    • Familiarity with networking concepts, storage systems, and security protocols in multi-cloud and hybrid cloud setups.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience in project planning, risk management, and status reporting.

Preferred:

  • Experience in complex, large-scale cloud migration projects in enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD processes, especially within cloud-native and containerized environments.
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance requirements for infrastructure migrations.
