Job description

Description:

WHO WE ARE

Eastside Catholic School is a dynamic educational community rooted in Catholic tradition, where students in grades six through twelve integrate intellectual growth with faith-based learning. We foster academic excellence, nurture meaningful relationships, and inspire students to become leaders committed to service.

Founded by parents in 1980, Eastside Catholic is governed by an elected board of trustees. As the only seven-year, coeducational Catholic school on the Eastside, we offer a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum.

We provide extensive professional development opportunities, competitive salaries, and a supportive, collaborative work environment. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Paid medical, dental, vision, long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401(k) employer matching
  • Free parking
  • Lunch on most school days

JOB SUMMARY
Eastside Catholic School is seeking a part-time Visual Content Designer (graphic design and social media) to join the Marketing and Communications team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, this role is ideal for a visually driven creative who excels at producing dynamic, on-brand graphics and timely social media contentโ€”with a primary focus on athletics and gameday coverage in a fast-paced school environment.

The Visual Content Designer will play a key role in elevating the visibility of Eastside Catholic School through the creation of compelling gameday graphics, real-time score updates and student-athlete highlights. While athletics is the primary focus, this role will also support broader Marketing and Communications initiatives across the school, contributing to institutional marketing, events and community storytelling.

This role requires the ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines, often producing content in real time during evening and weekend athletic events. A strong eye for design, consistent brand execution and comfort with social media platforms are essential.

SCHEDULE AND HOURS

This role will have variable seasonal hours aligned with the athletics calendar.

During Fall, Winter and Spring athletic seasons:

  • Approximately 1 hour per weekday evening (remote) for post-game social media coverage
  • Approximately 3 hours per day in-office

When athletics are not in session (June 1 through September 1):

  • Approximately 20 hours per week in-office

Alternatively, this role has the flexibility to be on an unpaid hiatus from June 1 through July 15, but would not be benefits eligible.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic Design (primary focus)

  • Design and produce high-impact digital and print materials, with an emphasis on athletics content (gameday graphics, score updates, player highlights, awards, schedules, and postseason runs) and school-wide content
  • Create templates and visual systems for consistent, efficient production of athletics and select school-wide content
  • Create posters, banners, event programs and promotional materials for athletics, activities and broader school initiatives
  • Ensure brand consistency across all materials, maintaining Eastside Catholic visual standards

Social Media (Athletics-Focus)

  • Create, schedule and post real-time athletics content, including gameday graphics, final scores, and student-athlete recognition
  • Manage and maintain athletics-related social media updates across platforms (primarily Facebook and Instagram)
  • Collaborate with coaches and the Athletics Department to ensure timely and accurate content
  • Assist with school-wide social media content as needed

Photography and Videography

  • Edit and optimize photo and video content specifically for digital and print collateral and for social platforms, including short-form video, reels and gameday highlights.
  • Apply dynamic editing techniques (cropping, transitions, text overlays, motion graphics, music sync and branded effects) to create engaging, high-impact content
  • Select, organize, and manage visual assets for athletics and key school campaigns, ensuring content is optimized for real-time posting and storytelling

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track social media performance (engagement, reach, growth) to inform content strategy
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve performance of athletics content and overall social media performance
Requirements:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong graphic design skills with an eye for composition, typography, and brand consistency
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop; Illustrator a plus) and/or Canva
  • Experience creating social-first content, particularly for athletics or fast-paced environments
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, and other social platforms, including scheduling and posting
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines (including evenings and occasional weekends during sports seasons)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to content creation and planning
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Collaborative, positive attitude with a sense of humor
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, or related field preferred
  • 1โ€“3 years of experience in graphic design, social media, or digital marketing
  • Experience creating athletics or sports-related content strongly preferred
  • Photography and/or videography experience preferred
