For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Located on a sacred site of the Nez Perce Flight of 1877, Big Hole National Battlefield offers powerful opportunities to share untold stories and connect visitors to the emotional and cultural significance of this land.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in History, Parks and Rec, Education, other similar fields with minimum additional experience of 5 year(s) in interpretation and visitor services

  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
Duties:

Enrollee will support the Big Hole National Battlefield interpretation and visitor services program by greeting park visitors, staffing the park visitor center, giving interpretive presentations, leading interpretive walks through park grounds, roving critical visitor areas, and other general support to the staff and visiting public.

  • Greeting and orienting visitors   50%
  • Giving public presentations and guided walking tours   20%
  • Interacting informally with visitors and answering questions about the park and general area   20%
  • Patrolling and roving various locations in the park   10%

Other:
  • Physical requirements: Work will primarily be in the park visitor center. May be exposed to outdoor elements when providing walking tours or driving to park sites. Most walking will be along either hardened or maintained trail surfaces.
