IMAGINATION STATION
Visitor Service Associate
Approximately 20-25 Hours/Week
Description: The Visitor Services Associate serves as a frontline ambassador for Imagination Station Toledo, creating welcoming, engaging, and memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors. This role is central to fulfilling our mission of inspiring curiosity and a lifelong love of science through hands-on discovery. Associates work across multiple visitor-facing areas including the Visitor Services desk and the Science2Go retail shop - and play a vital role in making science accessible and exciting for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and welcome all visitors with enthusiasm and a guest-first mindset
  • Respond to visitor questions and needs with accuracy, warmth, and patience
  • Process admissions transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system, including cash handling, credit card processing, and membership verification
  • Sell and promote memberships, communicating the value and benefits to prospective members
  • Maintain accurate records and follow cash-handling procedures in compliance with organizational policies
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned
  • Maintain gift shop appearance, including restocking, merchandising, and inventory organization
  • Process retail transactions accurately and support loss prevention practices
  • Communicate effectively with team members, volunteers, and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Follow all safety protocols and respond appropriately in emergency situations
  • Support an inclusive environment by demonstrating sensitivity to visitors of all abilities, backgrounds, and identities

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with people of all ages
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-energy, public-facing environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as required
  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, or informal education settings
  • Basic cash handling and POS experience

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time typically up to 6 hours
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to kneel or bend over as required for stocking inventory
