Quantum Sky is searching for a Senior Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to support design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments. This senior-level role provides technical leadership for the organization's virtual desktop infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and performance across on-premises environments.  

The Senior Citrix VDI Engineer collaborates with systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity teams, application owners, and project managers to deliver secure, resilient, and efficient virtual desktop and application services. The position serves as the technical lead for VDI infrastructure projects, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, automation, and disaster recovery planning. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect the Citrix enterprise VDI solution for scalability, performance, and resiliency 
  • Lead at-scale VDI deployments, migrations, and platform upgrades 
  • Optimize VDI environments for cost, performance, and user experience (density, compute resource allocation, storage I/O) 
  • Establish standards for image management, application delivery, and security within the VDI environment 
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex, high-impact VDI incidents 
  • Mentor mid-level engineers and collaborate with security teams on VDI hardening and compliance 
  • Evaluate emerging end-user computing technologies and recommend roadmap changes
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (experience and education equivalents are considered and can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree). 
  • 10 years of general work experience / 8 years relevant "functional" experience in end-user computing/VDI engineering 
  • Advanced certification preferred (Citrix CCP-V, VMware VCP-VCF) 
  • Deep expertise in VDI architecture, application virtualization, and performance tuning at scale 
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide VDI programs or migrations 
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with server, network, storage, and security teams 

Desired: 

  • Experience with a Citrix VDI environment 
  • Experience with a VMware ESXi, vCenter virtual infrastructure 
  • Experience with enterprise management of Dell Wyse Thin-Clients 
  • Experience with peripherals such as printers, scanners, card readers in VDI environment 
  • Experience with network attached storage and protocols such as NFS and CIFS 

Clearance:

  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

Location and Schedule:

  • This position is onsite at the customer location in Washington, DC. The environment requires onsite support five days per week, with some flexibility in scheduling based on program and customer requirements. Core business hours are 8am-4pm.

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $150,000-$160,000.
