Job description

Multi-Specialty Veterinary Technologist, RVTLocation: Calgary, AB

Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre, a member of VCA Canada, is currently welcoming a full-time multi-service Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our always-growing facility.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be compassionate, with the ability to adapt to the needs of the clients within the various services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well within a highly functioning team. This person will be self-motivated to keep busy when not assigned to a specific department and expected to work in the ER when required.

Anesthesia training will be provided by our anesthesiologist, as well as training in all the specialty teams, before the candidate starts full-time in the position. Duties will include: Starting client appointments, collecting and running or submitting blood samples and radiographs, learning how to perform CT scans, monitoring sedated and anesthetized patients, as well as maintaining timely and accurate patient records.

Schedule: The schedule for this position will be a 4 x 10.5-hour shift over the Monday - Friday period. After-hours on-call anesthesia, once full training is complete, will be required.

Applicants must be registered AHT and be eligible for registration with AAAHT/ABVMA in Alberta. ABVMA registration must be complete by the first day of employment.
