POSITION SUMMARY

The Detail / Wash Bay Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the wash bay and detail department, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role involves managing a team of wash bay and detail technicians, daily workload assignments, handling administrative tasks, managing vendor relations, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. The Wash / Detail Lead will coordinate vehicle movements, maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, and ensure high standards of vehicle presentation and safety while maintaining optimal productivity.

  • Completive hourly rate + overtime and benefits that start on the first day.

Hours of Operations

  • Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM EST

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, train, and support detail and wash bay technicians in daily tasks.
    Assign and prioritize units to be detailed/washed based on deadlines and operational needs.
  • Ensure consistent application of wash/detail procedures and safety practices.
  • Inspect completed units for cleanliness and readiness, ensuring PTR quality standards are met.
  • Address and correct deficiencies with technicians promptly and constructively.
  • Serve as the final quality gatekeeper prior to unit staging or delivery.
  • Monitor team productivity and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Minimize rework by improving initial detail accuracy and accountability.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Service, Body Shop, Rentals) to streamline workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Act as a liaison between the detail team and leadership.
  • Maintain visibility on scheduling changes, wo
  • kload shifts, or special unit requirements.
  • Lead pre-shift huddles or end-of-day recaps as needed.
  • Promote and enforce safe work habits, PPE use, and 5S practices in the wash/detail area.
  • Train and cross-train team members on best practices, process updates, and backup tasks.
  • Participate in or lead safety audits, equipment inspections, and incident reporting.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring timely replenishment.
  • Order and restock supplies as needed, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and ensuring optimal availability.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions and enforce compliance with company policies.
  • Identify operational improvements and implement solutions to enhance wash bay and detail technician efficiency and finished unit quality.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for wash bay and detail department operations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on team performance, inventory usage, and operational metrics.
  • Maintain a 5S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) organized workspace, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Finalize quality work in the QO App and ensure all standards are met to make units rent-ready and escalate any findings to the supervisor immediately.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE

  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player who can collaborate effectively.
  • Willingness to receive and improve upon constructive feedback.
  • Must be able to work both in an indoor shop environment and outdoors.
  • Physical capability to lift to 50lbs and stand for extended periods.
