Advancing Construction Through Precision Reality Capture Positioned as a Senior Associate, HITT Contracting seeks a Reality Capture Specialist to leverage advanced laser scanning technology and spatial data collection methodologies to support project delivery excellence. This position will utilize terrestrial laser scanning, mobile mapping systems, and photogrammetry to generate high-fidelity digital representations of construction environments, providing critical data assets for design verification, progress tracking, and coordination workflows. In this role, you will be responsible for capturing, processing, and delivering highโ€‘precision 3D data that supports project delivery across HITTโ€™s diverse portfolio. Working closely with field teams, Virtual Construction specialists, and Project Managers, you will help transform existing site conditions into actionable digital models that drive accuracy, safety, and efficiency throughout the construction lifecycle. Position Overview The Reality Capture Specialist will deploy stateโ€‘ofโ€‘theโ€‘art scanning technologies to create comprehensive digital documentation of construction projects. This role requires fluency in laser scanning that serve as critical deliverables for internal Virtual Construction teams, external partners, and project stakeholders. Deliverables include: Floor heat maps for space planning and occupancy analysis Highโ€‘fidelity point clouds for design verification and coordination Integrated digital models supporting BIM workflows and clash detection Quantitative progress documentation and milestone tracking Existing condition surveys for renovation and retrofit projects Travel Expectation: This position is based at the HITT Headquarters in Falls Church, VA, but requires 50%โ€‘75% travel to local and national job sites depending on project assignments. Responsibilities: Field Data Acquisition Execute terrestrial laser scanning and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) scan deployments at active construction sites Develop comprehensive site documentation protocols to capture existing conditions, construction progress, and quality assurance data Collaborate with project teams to develop scan planning strategies aligned with project phases and deliverable requirements Data Processing & Deliverable Generation Process raw scan data into registrationโ€‘accurate point clouds and polygonal meshes utilizing ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Register 360, 3DR and related software platforms Implement standardized data management protocols including folder hierarchies, file naming conventions, and metadata documentation Generate technical reports, visualizations, and BIMโ€‘integrated deliverables for multidisciplinary project stakeholders Quality Assurance & Team Collaboration Coordinate with Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) teams to integrate reality capture data into clash detection and model verification workflows Conduct quality control reviews of scan data to ensure coverage completeness and geometric accuracy prior to processing Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including weekly knowledgeโ€‘sharing sessions and postโ€‘project reviews Required Qualifications 3โ€“6 years of demonstrated experience in construction, land surveying, geospatial technology, or reality capture operations (internship experience considered) Extended knowledge of laser scanning, LiDAR, and photogrammetry principles and applications Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and fundamental data management practices Demonstrated ability to navigate active construction environments safely and work independently with minimal supervision Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation capabilities Preferred Qualifications Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Geomatics, or related technical discipline Experience with Digital Twin concepts and workflows Familiarity with NVIDIA Omniverse or similar realโ€‘time 3D collaboration platforms is a plus Handsโ€‘on experience with ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, or comparable point cloud processing software Understanding of coordinate reference systems, geodetic datums, and fundamental surveying principles Experience with using 3D Gaussian Splatting technology In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is: $82,000.00 - $117,000.00 Compensation in other cities and states may vary.
