 USAging Overview


USAging is the national association representing and supporting the network of Area Agencies on Aging and advocating for the Title VI Native American Aging Programs. Our members help older adults and people with disabilities throughout the United States live with optimal health, well-being, independence and dignity in their homes and communities. 


Our members develop, coordinate and deliver a wide range of home and community-based services, including information and referral/assistance, case management, home-delivered and congregate meals, in-home services, caregiver supports, transportation, evidence-based health and wellness programs, long-term care ombudsman programs and more.


USAging is dedicated to supporting the success of our members in supporting the nation's growing population of older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers through advancing public policy, sparking innovation, strengthening the capacity of our members, raising their visibility and working to drive excellence in the fields of aging and home and community-based services.


Job Summary


The Program Manager has a key role with leading USAging's efforts with the Center for Dementia Respite Innovation in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Association and the University of Minnesota. The position focuses on providing technical assistance to awardees, awarded through competitive grants to local adult day care centers, home health agencies, and other respite care providers that propose to improve the quality of their services. The position will provide awardees with critical, ongoing technical assistance and monitoring through activities such the delivery of webinars, learning collaboratives, regular check-ins, site visits, and education and training. The ideal candidate will be an efficient and proactive manager who is organized, strategic and an excellent communicator able to balance multiple activities daily.


Job Title: Program Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In partnership with awardees, develop individualized technical assistance plans that include strategies for prioritizing and measuring goals and objectives.
  • Provide monthly conference calls and quarterly video calls to support awardees in addressing barriers/challenges, data collection and ongoing program progress.
  • Assist in coordination of monthly peer-to-peer webinars and supports.
  • Oversee project and data collection and create reports from data collected at multiple points.
  • Work closely with Alzheimer's Association Technical Assistant for alignment in support and monitoring of awardees including the co-creation of the individualized TA plan and peer-to-peer discussions. 
  • Work with funder, vendors and partners to facilitate efficient processes for the implementation, administration and completion of activities.
  • Serve as liaison to funder on project issues, along with Program Director.
  • Work with the team at-large to ensure the program remains in compliance and meets all auditing standards.
  • Manage conference and event planning efforts related to the initiative.
  • Serve as a program spokesperson, speaking at in-person and virtual training sessions, conferences and other venues.
  • Utilize project management tools, including Excel and project management tools, to organize and manage program activities. 
  • Take a lead role with writing program materials including email blasts/social media, surveys, tip sheets, reports and technical assistance materials. 
  • Communicate clearly in writing and via telephone/Microsoft Teams/Zoom with USAging members, partners, funders and other stakeholders. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree plus at least four years of relevant work experience 
  • Knowledge of the Aging Network and programs/services for caregivers of individuals with dementia 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills 
  • Ability to plan ahead, meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to keep track of details and timelines and effectively communicate the most relevant information to supervisors/colleagues
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Survey Monkey or other survey platforms and webinar broadcast platforms 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and build external relationships
  • All-hands-on-deck attitude and a willingness to pitch in when needed 
  • Self-starter with proven organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and follow-through, even in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for USAging's mission of helping older adults age in place and maintain their health and independence for as long as possible

WORK HOURS AND LOCATION

Candidates outside of the Washington, DC area will be considered. The successful candidate will also be able to occasionally travel to member conferences and always attend the USAging Annual Conference and Tradeshow each summer for up to six days.
