POSITION SUMMARY
Provide high-quality virtual instruction in Biology aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) standards within the HISD Virtual Launchpad program. Design and deliver rigorous, standards-based synchronous and asynchronous instruction that develops scientific reasoning, inquiry skills, data analysis, and conceptual understanding of biological systems. Facilitate engaging virtual laboratory experiences and simulations that reinforce TEKS-aligned investigation standards. Monitor student engagement and academic progress, provide timely and actionable feedback, and collaborate with program leadership to ensure instructional fidelity, compliance with district and TEA requirements, and measurable academic growth in a structured virtual learning environment.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
• Deliver rigorous Biology instruction aligned to TEKS and STAAR EOC standards in a blended virtual format.
• Design and implement engaging synchronous lessons and structured asynchronous learning modules.
• Develop and facilitate virtual lab experiences and simulations aligned to safety and scientific investigation standards.
• Modify curriculum and instructional strategies for virtual delivery while maintaining academic rigor.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with accommodations.
• Prepare students for successful completion of the Biology STAAR EOC exam.
• Monitor attendance, participation, assignment completion, and mastery of scientific concepts.
• Maintain accurate gradebook records and provide timely, actionable feedback.
• Provide weekly tutorials, lab support sessions, and targeted intervention.
• Support development of scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED
• Collaborate with graduation coaches and counselors to ensure credit attainment.
• Analyze formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with ADA reporting and district policies.
• Maintain documentation aligned with TEA requirements.
• Participate in progress monitoring meetings and instructional reviews.
• Participate in virtual PLC meetings focused on data analysis and EOC preparation.
• Collaborate with virtual Launchpad leadership and instructional staff.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student performance and progress.
• Other duties as assigned.
