Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Red Hat Linux Engineer to design, support, and optimize our enterprise Linux environments across onpremise data centers and cloud platforms. This hybrid role, based in Nashville, TN, is ideal for a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in RHEL, virtual machines, and containerized workloads in both traditional and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

Linux Engineering & Administration

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Lead OS lifecycle management, patching, hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration, and compliance using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar.

Virtualization & Infrastructure

  • Support and optimize Linux workloads running on VMware, Nutanix, or other enterprise hypervisors.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving compute, storage, networking, and OS layers.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and scalability.

Containers & Cloud Platforms

  • Deploy, manage, and support containerized applications using OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker.
  • Integrate Linux systems with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Implement cloud-native services, storage, and networking to support hybrid workloads.

Security, Monitoring & Operations

  • Implement security best practices, SELinux policies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Configure monitoring, logging, and alerting for Linux and container environments.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Strong experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience supporting Linux workloads in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proficiency with automation and scripting (Ansible, Bash, Python, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in large-scale, mission-critical environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, EX280/OpenShift).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, GitOps).
  • Experience with security hardening and compliance frameworks.
