The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the Sobeys Alberta Central Kitchen, completing assigned sanitation and cleaning duties across all areas of the site, and actively contributing to a positive, safe, and productive working environment.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Central Kitchen, warehouse, equipment, and surrounding properties according to HACCP standards.
  • Sweep, scrub, and sanitize floors; manage waste and recycling.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; frequent walking, bending, squatting, and twisting.
  • Occasionally lift over 88 lbs (two-person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs). 
  • Work in a cool environment (1–4°C).
  • Work night shifts and weekends as required.
  • Adhere and implement all applicable company safety standards.
  • Maintain MSDS Catalogues as required.
  • All other duties as required.

  • Previous sanitation experience required; power jack or warehouse experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with cleaning solvents and materials.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent pace in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented, motivated, and safety-conscious.
  • Time management skills and ability to multitask.
