About this role

As a Geology Intern at Mewbourne Oil Company, you will gain hands-on experience supporting exploration and development activities across the Anadarko and Permian Basins. This immersive internship provides direct exposure to the geological evaluation of oil and gas prospects, subsurface mapping, drilling operations, and reservoir development strategies within a leading independent oil and gas company.

Interns work alongside experienced geologists, reservoir engineers, land professionals, and operations teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the role geology plays in identifying and developing hydrocarbon resources. Through technical projects, software training, field exposure, and mentorship, interns will contribute to real-world evaluations of drilling opportunities while gaining insight into the full life cycle of exploration and development activities.

This internship is designed to provide meaningful, practical experience while helping interns build technical expertise, critical thinking skills, and a solid foundation in petroleum geology. Interns are encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, and take ownership of projects that support business objectives and development planning.

Key Learning Opportunities:
