Key Responsibilities
Develop and delivercourse materials, lectures, and assignments that align with the courseobjectivesand departmental standards.
Facilitateinteractive classroom discussions, potentially in both in-person and online/hybrid formats, to foster critical thinking and a dynamic learning environment.
Assess and gradestudent coursework, assignments, papers, and examinations in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback.
Maintainregular office hours (virtual or in-person) to provide academic support and mentorship to students.
Stay currentwith developments, trends, and advancements in communication law andincorporate this knowledge into the curriculum.
Implementuniversity and departmental policies and procedures,includingsubmittinggrades and other required reports byestablisheddeadlines.
Collaboratewith full-time faculty and department staff on curriculum enhancement and program development as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Education:A Juris Doctor (JD) degree or aMaster's degree in Communication Law, Media Studies, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. (A Ph.D. in Communications or a related field is often preferred for university-level positions).
Experience:Demonstratedprofessional experience in a legal field related to communications, media, or journalism (e.g., media law practice, in-house counsel, regulatory work).
Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiencywith educational technology,including learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas or Blackboard, and video conferencing platforms like Zoom.
Preferred:
Prior experience teaching at the college or university level, or relevant training/mentorship experience.
Active admission to the bar in one or more U.S.jurisdictions.
Experience with online teaching formats and instructional design principles.
