About the Role
Equivity is seeking an experienced California Paralegal to provide legal support to attorneys and law firms. Assignments may vary based on client needs, your experience, and availability.
This is a remote, W-2, assignment-based position paying $30/hour. Assignments are based on client demand, experience, and availability. Workload and hours may vary and are not guaranteed.
This role is ideal for a self-motivated paralegal who enjoys working remotely, managing multiple matters, and building long-term relationships with legal teams. While assigned to active clients, you must respond to client and Equivity communications within one hour during your stated availability between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
Working under attorney supervision, you may:
  • Support legal matters from intake through resolution.
  • Draft, prepare, and revise pleadings, correspondence, contracts, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Coordinate court filings, e-filings, and service of process.
  • Conduct legal, factual, and public records research.
  • Organize and maintain case files, calendars, deadlines, and document management systems.
  • Assist with discovery, document review, and trial or hearing preparation.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Prepare exhibits, reports, chronologies, and case summaries.
  • Manage administrative and case-support tasks to ensure matters progress efficiently.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong knowledge of California court procedures, filing requirements, and legal documentation.
  • Experience supporting attorneys in one or more of the following areas of law: Civil Litigation; Family Law; Estate Planning; Probate; Personal Injury; Employment Law; Business/Corporate Law; Real Estate Law; Immigration Law; Criminal Defense; Bankruptcy; or Trust Administration.
  • At least 20 hours of weekly availability during standard business hours.
  • Ability to respond within one hour while actively supporting clients.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal practice-management software.
  • Experience supporting multiple areas of law.
  • Experience with Clio or similar practice-management platforms.
  • Previous remote legal support experience.
  • Access to a reliable Windows or Mac computer and high-speed internet connection suitable for remote work.
